Redditch Carnival

There have been Fairs, Circuses and Carnivals in Redditch for at least 150 years. I am not sure when the term "Carnival" was used but since the 1930's there was one nearly every year and thousands turned out to support them.

Sadly in 2000 support to organise this well loved event was not sufficient and for 18 years there was no annual carnival. In 2019 that drought came to an end and a modest, but very successful carnival was held.  In 2020 a bigger better carnival is being planned and therefore we are hopeful that the tradition will be continued.

On thes pages you will find memories of the 20th century carnivals

Although we have made this site available, please bear with us as we are still adding data, particularly captions for the photographs in the gallery.

We are also seeking you help to fill in some of the gaps in the data that we have. Specifically we are looking for carnival magazine for the years we do not have and any missing names from the "Royalty" listings on the year pages.

Please conact us on archivist@rlhs.org.uk if you have carnival in formation, or memories, to donate.
